Addiction robs us of our humanity – leaving us lost and out of touch with the beauty and truth that exists within us all.

The Problem

Addiction robs us of our humanity, leaving us lost and out of touch with the beauty and truth that exists within us all. Addiction looks through the lens of the past, where traumas and pain continue to replay. Addiction medicates the past but ultimately only serves to create more pain.   Recovery is the journey back to the truth of who we are, of who we are meant to be. Recovery is about living our dreams – not the nightmare that never ends.

The Program

Experience has taught us that healing cannot take place without the safety of clear, consistent boundaries. Once clients have stabilized and are doing the internal work to recover, they begin to take an active role in their treatment process. We pay particular attention to the therapeutic milieu. We understand that the needs of one individual are best supported by the health and encouragement of the entire community.

Men and women come to us homeless, unemployed/unemployable, facing incarceration, or simply sick and tired of being sick and tired. No one is incapable of change as long as there is a desire and a willingness to do the work needed to recover. We believe that, in the absence of drugs and alcohol, those who come to us are fundamentally capable of staying clean, realizing their potential, and living a meaningful life.

Curriculum

Our curriculum covers a broad range of information. We address the relationship between addiction and trauma, the impacts of mental health on sobriety, and the importance of community to a successful recovery. We also consider our clients’ perception and orientation toward life, spirit, and the nature of reality. We know that people learn in different ways and offer a variety of modalities, including art therapy, music therapy, and meditation. We have poetry groups, book clubs, and do body and breathwork. Clients paint their feelings, sing their stories, and visualize new futures through movement. We take traditional information, make it personal, and turn it into an experience.
